I love this so much, and, I confess, am the slightest bit jealous because I am the kind of person who kills plants with a glance. But I *am* learning to arrange flowers, so that's something, right?
Yes, that’s definitely something!!! Flower arranging was my gateway drug! 😝Playing with flowers gave me a felt sense of the joy that an artful arrangement brings (both in the arranging and in the enjoying afterwards), especially when you notice how flowers grow and bloom even after you’ve arranged them (nasturtium especially). This in turn helped me appreciate house plants as alive and growing, too. I think half the caring for them is in just noticing them -- when they unfurl a new leaf, turn toward the sun, or being to wilt from inattention… 🌱
One friend said her Mother told her plants like to be watered the same time of day each week. I think regularity-especially for indoor houseplants does matter.
Life-giving!! I've loved the yards/gardens that we have kept at each of our homes over the years but I still have not mastered indoor plants - someday, I hope.
How lovely!! I've realized that there are lots of wonderful self-watering tools, too -- they help a lot with indoor plants! But most of all, developing a relationship with each them -- paying attention to how they're feeling -- really works! Sounds weird, I know, but that's what I've found! 🤣 I'll defer to any plant experts out there to offer any insight into why / how that's the case, and other tips on keeping houseplants!
My sister attests to your practice of paying attention to them and how they're feeling - so much so that when her new kittens started attacking her plants that she was ready to part ways with the kittens in order to save her plants. 😆 Thankfully, the kittens started behaving, so they didn't have to find a new home. 😉

Great tip! 🌱

That is hilarious! I feel so validated, and less like a coo-coo plant lady now! I also have given some of them names…
Well, they are living, breathing pets of a sort. 💖
